Panel: Are Artists Taking over Brands? - A New Creative Relationship

Brands have been tapping into culture by using songs of artists for a long time. However, a new trend is emerging in which artists and brands are forming true partnerships and pushing the boundaries of traditional music and brand relationships.

Often, these close collaborations require much more of a leap of faith from all sides than the tried and tested approach of traditional music in advertising.

In their 2021 Taigo Campaign, VW and their agency DDB Voltage as well as music agency Tracks & Fields decided to give three artists complete creative freedom to create films that function both as music videos and car commercials, successfully walking the fine line between authenticity and brand visibility.

The panel will use this case to discuss successful brand and artist collaborations from client, agency and artist perspective and will shine a light on expectations, benefits and concerns from all parties involved.

Panel: Music, Shamanism & Psychedelics: A Journey from the Amazon to the West

Psychedelics' influence on mankind's minds, creativity and spirituality has been enormous throughout the years.

From age old rituals to their renaissance in the hippie & Vietnam War era, to their widespread ban in the 1960s to their recent revival in psychedelic assisted therapy, microdosing, rave culture and neo-shamanism in the tech & music world: Their history is full of controversies, clichés and misconceptions.

On a series of expeditions to the Amazon, DIE ZEIT author Thomas Fischermann accompanied the apprentice of one of the last Jaguar Shamans of the Huhuteni Clan and experienced his magical, at times dangerous, world for himself. Are there lessons we can learn from this near extinct culture for our modern day life, spirituality, and music?

Together with Dr.med. Andrea Jungaberle, Medical Director at OVID Clinics, Thomas will take you on a journey from the heart of the Brazilian forest to the minds of Western CEOs.

Speakers

Thomas Fischermann, DIE ZEIT Author • Dr.med. Andrea Jungaberle, OVID Clinics
