For the second time, we are very happy to have the Reeperbahn Festival as our partner at WISE. While we started the year 2020 planning to bring a bunch of the best Chinese and European talent to play together in Beijing, as a bigger and better version of the showcase we did in 2019, well, we all know what happened…
Instead Reeperbahn Festival will now present three Chinese bands in Berlin in a hybrid showcase at legendary Festsaal Kreuzberg. They will be joined by three European acts, a delegation of 50+ European music industry professionals, members of the press, and this year's ANCHOR Jury (the music prize 2019 WISE x RBF showcasing artist The Hormones nearly won last year).
Funny enough, destiny is once again showing us its twisted humor as the now burned down first incarnation of Festsaal Kreuzberg was also the first venue where WISE founder Philipp Grefer, booked the first-ever European show of seminal Beijing electro-punk troupe Pet Conspiracy back in 2008. Coincidentally Pet Conspiracy´s co-founder Helen Feng took a plane from Beijing to Berlin this January, just before Corona shut down the Middle Kingdom. Stranded in Berlin ever since, the „Queen of Chinese Rock“ will grace the stage with indie royalty and world touring act Nova Heart, the band she founded in 2011 in China’s capital. Wuhan ́s brilliantly named Chinese Football (via video stream) along with cold-playish newcomer Mimik Banka (similar like Feng´s fate, also stuck in Germany) will be joined by neo-constructivist post-classical disco wunderkinder Ätna from Dresden, a rare three-headed & six (and a half) - legged female Danish rocktopus called Velvet Volume, and Radiohead-influenced Belgian mulitinstrumentalist Jasper Maekelberg aka. FACES ON TV.

WISE, in collaboration with the German Reeperbahn Festival, one of the most important meeting places for the music industry worldwide and Europe’s largest club festival, will be holding an online matchmaking event, connecting Beijing music professionals with the industry delegates in Berlin.
Held at Beijing's Nugget (Nugget Records cafe, venue & music store)
on August 28 from 15:30-18:00 CST,
The event will provide an opportunity to meet online with European delegates from over 10 countries to foster new business connections and collaborations. After the matchmaking session, we will be holding an afterwork networking event with drink specials and music performance by electronic artist sourtower(酸塔).

INTRODUCTION
From 16 – 19 September 2020, the Reeperbahn Festival will present more than 900 events spanning a range of genres in locations around Hamburg’s Reeperbahn. Since its debut in 2006, the Reeperbahn Festival has grown to become one of the most important meeting places for the music industry worldwide, and, as Europe's largest club festival, it boasts a broad spectrum of emerging and more established artists.
In addition to some 600 concerts by international artists held in a wide variety of venues, the festival program includes events in the fields of fine art, film, literature, and education. The Reeperbahn Festival Conference program is designed for professionals active in the music and creative digital industries and features sessions, showcases, networking events, or awards ceremonies.

REEPERBAHN FESTIVAL
Reeperbahn Festival is Europe’s B2B platform for the music and digital industry. The Reeperbahn Festival Conference offers industry professionals a program that includes more than 300 sessions, networking events, meetings, showcases, and award shows. They expect around 4,700 professionals and media representatives from 56 countries attending.
SESSIONS
Talks, panels, keynotes, presentations, and workshops are all a part of the Reeperbahn Festival Conference sessions program. At this year’s conference, top international speakers will address issues relevant to the music industry, its submarkets – recorded music, live entertainment, and publishing – and related sectors in the digital economy. The sessions program is curated by an independent committee of industry experts.
SHOWCASES
Each year labels, partners, and music export offices showcase their new and aspiring artists at the Reeperbahn Festival, providing a great complement to the festival’s curated concert program. We’re expecting about 40 German and international showcases that will present exciting bands and solo artists to a large audience of fans, media representatives, and trade professionals.
NETWORKING
The Reeperbahn Festival Conference is one of the most important industry platforms in Europe and provides attendees with an opportunity to meet and network with international representatives from the music industry and the digital creative economy. The central location for business meetings and receptions is the Reeperbahn Festival Lounge in the ARCOTEL Onyx hotel. In addition, parties, get-togethers, dinners, and cocktail events hosted by our partners are held in a number of nearby Reeperbahn venues. The Reeperbahn Festival Conference networking program also includes targeted Matchmaking Sessions during which participants meet one-on-one with potential business contacts.
